Job Description
Purpose of the Job/Principal Responsibilities:
The Director of Admissions is responsible for the management of the overall performance of the team along with being the coach, a motivator and mentor of the 47-person team, (40 Admissions Advisors, 1 Associate Director of Admissions, 1 Training Manager, 1 Admissions Manager, 2 Senior Admissions Coordinators and 2 Admissions Coordinators). The goal of the DOA is to instill a sense of team responsibility, team leadership and ultimately improve the student start rate through quality customer service, team performance and follow up. An integral part of the DOA position is to coach the ADOA, TM and AM and ensure the required metrics are achieved and ensure proper skill development of the entire team.

Typical activities for a Director of Admissions include:

*Manage the day-to-day performance of your teams, and the Associate Director's of Admissions
*Insure your teams meet their established recruiting cycle goals
*Analyze your team's statistics to detect positive/negative performance trends
*Identify team members who are not performing at the expected levels of quality and quantity to meet their goals
*In concert with your Associate Director of Admissions, when necessary, initiate a plan, administer and monitor progress of admissions advisors placed in warning or probationary status due to poor performance.
*Follow established procedures if the termination of an employee is warranted
*Provide supplemental training for advisors based on their statistics
*Work individually with all advisors and Assoc. Director's of Admission to increase this departments overall conversion performance
*Provide ongoing management training for Associate Director's of Admission
*Insure the your team is appropriately staffed by conducting interviews for hire of prospective admissions advisors/Assoc. Director's of Admission
*Oversee lead distribution to advisors to insure the equal distribution of student information forms
*Work in harmony with our Marketing Department to insure lead flow is sufficient to meet our needs
*Assist Executive Director of Admissions with special projects
*Preparation of annual performance reviews for the admissions advisors and all ancillary management and support positions assigned to your team.
*Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of Admissions

Experience Required:
*Minimum of 3 years of directly related experience, with a minimum of 12 months experience as an Associate Director of Admissions or equivalent experience.
*Bachelor's degree from an accredited school required, preferably in a business discipline. MBA from an accredited school preferred.
*Positive support regarding managerial decisions
*Product and procedural knowledge
*Positive attitude and willingness to help others
*Capable of accomplishing multiple tasks within specific periods of time
*NOTE: Internal candidates are expected to have successfully completed the NEXT management development program and have been successful in the ADOA position, having achieved his/her team's aggregate goal for the current year.
Position Requirements /Scope of the Job/ Skills Required:
*Must be able to work at least two evenings per week and periodic weekends if necessary
*Ability to answer complicated Admissions questions accurately and in detail
*Ability to deliver outstanding customer service by telephone, e-mail, and other media
Measurement of Success:
Director of Admissions will be evaluated based on (a) ability of individuals and team to meet established performance metrics; (b) ability to produce daily & weekly team tracking reports on time and accurately (c) ability to coach, train and use coaching tools providing during training; (d) ability to work effectively lead a team, both within and across Kaplan University departments; (e) team retention; and (f) attitude and enthusiasm.
