GOAL OF LYNX COMMUTER VANPOOL PROGRAM?

Provide working people with an alternative to driving alone every day to work.

WHAT IS A COMMUTER VANPOOL?

A commuter vanpool consists of a group of people who live and work near one another and have similar work schedules.  They drive themselves to and from work each day using a van provided by LYNX.

HOW MANY PARTICIPANTS ARE NEEDED FOR A VANPOOL?

5 to 6 participants are recommended to start a vanpool. Vans come in four different seating configurations and can accommodate 7 to 12 passengers.  Participants can select the van of their choice based on availability. 

HOW MUCH DOES A VANPOOL COST?

The cost of a commuter vanpool varies depending on passenger seating configuration.  The cost, which is shared by the participants, or paid partially or totally by the employer, includes use of the van to and from work and limited personal use.  LYNX pays for all maintenance services and insurance.  There is no mileage cap!  Gas is an additional cost also shared by the group. 

HOW LONG MUST I PARTICIPATE?

There is no long-term commitment.  Each vanpool group signs up for a month at a time.  The monthly vanpool fee is paid at the beginning of the month and assures each participant a seat on the van for each workday.

WHO DRIVES?

LYNX must approve all drivers for them to be covered by the insurance.  Typically, one volunteer from among the group is designated as the driver; however, several, or all of the participants may register to drive and share the driving.  Insurance and maintenance coverage is in effect for both personal use of the van and during the work commute. 

WHEN AND WHERE WILL I BE PICKED UP FOR WORK?

The primary driver in cooperation with the vanpool participants determines all the routes, a convenient time schedule, and pick-up/drop-off locations with the vanpool participants.
