TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL CAREER FAIR EVENT

1) Dress for success. Dress in a suit or your Sunday best. Your outfit should       fit well, be free of wrinkles and stains.

2) Bring plenty of resumes. There will be recruiters from various departments from one organization, that feel you could be a fit for (2) possible positions with the same company.

3) Have accurate contact information on your resume. This should include an accurate e-mail, cell phone and land line phone contact , as well as correct home address information. Most common e-mails for a professional return response is your name@(yahoo, hotmail, etc).com . Avoid cutsie, or unprofessional e-mails

4) Wear comfortable shoes. You will be on your feet, meeting and greeting.  To be your best, be "free" from pain.

5) Have (3) professional and (3) personal references available to attach to your resume. This will save time for the recruiter regarding the hiring process.

6) Include awards, accomplishments, and education on your resume and be sure to discuss your attributes with the recruiter since this is considered your first interview.

7) Be sure to ask about the "unadvertised" positions at each exhibitor. You may never know if you are missing the best job you could ever have simply by not asking.

8) Mentally prepare by reviewing interview questions that are available free of charge on the internet. Recruiters are looking for your response time and thought process for the questions they are asking you.

9) Be sure to send a "Thank you" to the recruiter via e-mail (immediately) after the event.

10) Be sure to have a positive attitude and be prepared to tell the recruiter why YOU are who they are looking for!

GOOD LUCK!
