The Manager of Health Information Management is responsible for the following:

Manages personnel to include interviewing, work allocation, orientation and training, staff development, problem resolution, evaluating performance, making recommendations for personnel actions, and motivating employees to achieve peak performance. Is responsible for their employee's output and conduct.
Manages daily operations of the unit that include assembling of medical records, efficient chart flow, coding activities for patient billing, and protecting the security of medical records.
Recommends, implements and maintains policies and procedures for continuing quality improvement of the departmental operations, record maintenance, and the security of medical information.
Responds to inquiries, researches and resolves problems related to unit operations; serves as liaison with other constituencies in the resolution of day-to-day administrative and operational issues.
Maintains and operates variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems to collect, store and analyze patient and institutional information.
Manages departmental expenses within the approved budget as it relates to staffing, equipment and supplies.

HIM management experience in a hospital environment preferred
RHIA/RHIT required
